GHES Dress Code

For the 2010/2011 school year, GHES will continue the school-wide dress code* that will support our continued focus on a strong academic program and reinforce the sense of community throughout the school. Information on the GHES dress code is provided below.

  • Required for Girls: Solid colored, collared shirts or crew neckline (at the neck) shirts worn with khaki, navy, or black pants, jumpers or skirts/shorts that are a maximum of 3 inches above the knee
  • Students must wear shoes and socks

  • NO Tank tops, halters, spaghetti straps
  • Hats, bandanas or head scarves should not be worn inside the school, except if specified (i.e. religious, medical, etc) circumstances exist

General Information

Uniform shirts do not have to include the school logo but logo application is available as an embroidered option from Land's End or heat set option from Buckhead Uniforms or School Uniform Depot (see below).  In addition, it is available on GHES spirit wear. Any color shirt may be worn as long it meets the requirements set forth below.

Compliance

The administration, along with the help of the entire instructional staff, is charged with the enforcement of the student dress code.  Students who are found to be in violation of the dress code are subject to actions taken by the principal.  The principal’s actions may include:

  • Counseling the student
  • Contacting the parent to ensure that they will comply with the dress code
  • Calling parents to bring a change of clothing
  • Providing appropriate clothes for the student to use for the day

Uniform Days

Uniform days are Monday through Friday.

Where to Buy Uniform Clothing

While many clothing retailers sell clothes that are in compliance with the GHES dress code, and there is no obligation to purchase from a particular company or source, purchasing from the GHES PTA and/or Land's End Clothing Company results in direct financial benefit to the school. Land's End will donate 3% of uniform revenue generated by GHES customers directly to the school.
