Garden Hills Elementary School currently serves historic Buckhead neighborhoods including Garden Hills, Peachtree Park, Peachtree Heights, Martin Manor, Pine Hills and the much anticipated Streets of Buckhead. We have a student population of approximately 546. One of our best assets is our teaching staff. Many of them choose to teach at our school exclusively throughout their careers. We actually have a teacher who has been with us for 30 years and counting!
Garden Hills Elementary has a well-earned reputation for effectively and creatively meeting the needs of each child. We maintain our standard of excellence by providing our students with:

International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP)
- In grades K-5 the focus of the instruction is driven by the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) in the content areas of Reading, Language Arts, Science, and Mathematics. Atlanta Public Schools has developed its own framework, in the content area of mathematics, based on the framework from the state. In the content area of Social Studies, students are still given instruction using the Quality Core Curriculum (QCC). GPS standards for S.S. will begin 2008.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP)
- 75% of Certified Staff have received off-site Regional International Bacc. Training."
- 90% of Certified Staff have received on-site International Bacc. training
- 95% of Certified Staff have received either on-site or off-site IB training.
- All paraprofessionals have received on-site training from IB Coordinator.
- IB Coordinator, Stephanie Kastner, is an IBNA volunteer –a workshop leader, site visitor, application reader, and consultant.
